Language, Culture and Identity – Signs of Life

What is it about?

This volume (Cognitive Linguistic Studies in Cultural Contexts) marks the breaking of new ground in culturally oriented cognitive studies of language. The chapters bring together contributions to the field of cultural linguistics, exploring cultural conceptualizations in a variety of domains. Signs of Life encourage a growing engagement by scholars around the world, from different disciplinary traditions, with the dynamics of language, culture and identity.

Why is it important?

Signs of Life is important because of its contribution to fostering a dialogue between different disciplines focused on the interaction of language and culture in individual and cultural identity construction. It also provides the opportunity for senior and early-career international researchers to work together on a common platform, in order to disseminate high-quality research work and to establish effective and long-lasting interdisciplinary relationships. I hope it will inspire others to enter this fascinating and timely interdisciplinary field.
