Edition of and Introduction to a 14th Century Latin Treatise on Supposition

What is it about?

The publication is about 14th century logic and semantics. Near nothing is known about Martinus Anglicus, but seven small logical works can be ascribed to him, the second of which on supposition is identified here for the first time in a complete manuscript which is also edited and presented. Martinus seems to be dependent on Thomas Maulfelt, a very influential author of the late Middle Ages.

Why is it important?

For the list of works of Martinus Anglicus, the manuscript transmission of them, and for a new manuscript witness of one work of his of which only a fragment was known before.
