Homeland of Karenic languages: From the perspective of plant names

What is it about?

This paper estimates the place where Proto-Karen was spoken in terms of their plant names. The plants whose names can be traced back to Proto-Karen are those which can grow in the temperate subtropical climate. Thus, Proto-Karen is assumed to have been spoken in a temperate zone.

Why is it important?

By adding the consideration of plant names to linguistic migration theory, it is possible to more accurately estimate where Proto-Karen was spoken.
