Microgenesis of Consciousness

What is it about?

By an analogy, unfolding of conscious perception can be compared to the process of producing a photo when the seeminlgy plain empty photographic paper is bathed into the developer liquid. Almost nothing, then some coarse unintellegible areas and features, then almost full, half-clear image, and finally the full-blown, detailed picture. However, the mental process of conscious percept development is so fast that its time course needs to be studied with special intricate experimental methods.

Why is it important?

The microgenetic approach helps to solve many controversies in consciousness studies and links cognitive psychology to evolutionary paradigms.
