State of the Field in Adapting ASD Interventions for Latin Americans

What is it about?

Interventions may be more effective when they are culturally aligned to the needs of the target population, especially when those interventions are designed to teach parents to use specific therapeutic strategies with their children. This article describes a review of many studies that adapted these parent-mediated interventions specifically for Latin American families of children with autism spectrum disorder. The different types of adaptations are described, along with a discussion of which adaptations seemed most effective for these families.
