A novel iridium complex for water oxidation, is synthesized and characterized.
What is it about?
Iridium(III) complexes, specifically those containing dihydroxybipyridine ligands, have been shown to catalyze the oxidation of water in the presence of periodate (IO4−) as the sacrificial oxidant. A novel iridium complex for water oxidation, is synthesized and characterized using FT–IR, cyclic voltammetry/rotating disc electrode polarography, fluorescence spectrometry, high resolution mass spectrometry, CHN elemental analysis and 1H NMR spectroscopy.
