Ageism and Speech-Language Pathology
What is it about?
The baby boomer population continues to increase, thus increasing age-related speech therapy needs. There is limited research on SLPs' academic preparation, attitudes, and knowledge regarding older adults.
Why is it important?
Our findings show that there is a need for stronger education on aging and ageism in the speech pathology field to improve the quality of care of older adults and reduce bias towards older adults receiving speech pathology services.
