Vocal control during speaking in noisy environments

What is it about?

Many real-life communicative environments include background noise, which poses an obstacle for monitoring and regulating of voice production. This study investigated how speakers with typical voices adjust their vocal intensity during and after speaking in noisy environments. The findings suggest that speakers increase their vocal intensity in background noise by using auditory feedback to update their motor plans over time while speaking in noise.
