Implementation of harmonized FEES procedures and outcomes in the acute care setting.

What is it about?

FEES is frequently used to assess swallow function in the acute care setting; however, there is currently no standardized procedure or set outcome measurements to successfully compare studies or track patient progress. This provides a framework for how clinicians can use a common procedure and set research-driven outcomes to allow for greater comparison.

Why is it important?

We hope this work aids other institutions in harmonizing their approaches to FEES studies to allow improved standardization within and across institutions.
