Effects of Spectral and Temporal Resolution on Speech Perception Vary Across Noise Conditions

What is it about?

In this current study, we report the auditory abilities and related outcomes of adult unilateral cochlear implant users' speech perception in noise abilities. We evaluated the effects of spectral resolution, temporal resolution, and melodic contour identification skills, which may cause speech discrimination problems in noise, on performance in speech understanding in noise among cochlear implant users and investigated which skill is more related to speech understanding in noise. We think that this study will be interesting for readers in the areas of auditory skills and their relationship with speech in noise abilities of cochlear implant users.

Why is it important?

The effects of spectral and temporal resolution on speech perception in noise varied across noise conditions.
