Cross-Cultural Adaptation and Validation of the CAPE-V for Catalan and Spanish Speakers
What is it about?
The way a disordered voice sounds provides valuable information for the diagnosis of voice disorders. Healthcare providers require valid and reliable tools to evaluate disordered voices. The Consensus Auditory-Perceptual Evaluation of Voice (CAPE-V) is the most advanced instrument for clinical voice evaluation. We have developed and validated a bilingual Catalan/Spanish adaptation of the original English version of the CAPE-V.
Why is it important?
We worked closely with Linguists and Speech-Language Pathologists to ensure the tool uses the right adapted terminology and that the vocal evaluation tasks effectively explore the clinical signs they were originally designed for. Through rigorous validation testing, we confirmed the accuracy and reliability of the adaptation. The CAPE-V is now available to researchers and the healthcare community working with patients who speak Catalan or Spanish.
