Military Hearing Preservation: Exploring Strategies

What is it about?

In this paper, the strategies used in hearing health education for military personnel within the Hearing Preservation Program (HPP) were explored. Through a scoping review, five primary approaches were identified: focus groups aimed at understanding knowledge and perceptions, training sessions on the correct fitting of hearing protection devices, utilization of audiovisual materials, pre- and post-intervention questionnaires, and feedback surveys. These strategies were aimed at assessing, enhancing, and evaluating the efficacy of hearing health education for military personnel.

Why is it important?

In the search for studies describing how hearing health actions are implemented with military personnel, We found that there aren't many studies that have looked into explaining the strategies used to make a Hearing Preservation Program successful. Many studies evaluate Hearing Preservation Programs, manage audiometry, and control exposure to harmful noises, but few detail the hearing health actions themselves. So, came up the idea of exploring which strategies are used in hearing health education with military personnel.
