A review of sensations and eating problems in children with autism
What is it about?
Children with autism can have very low or very high sensations of taste, touch, sound, smell, and sight. They can also have trouble eating. This review found that children who have high or low sensations of taste and smell have more trouble eating. They say no to more foods. They are choosier in what they eat.
Why is it important?
Doctors, therapists, and others in health care need to work together to help families with eating plans. We need more research to find ways to work with children's sensations so they can eat a healthy diet.
