Psychological therapies on psychological wellbeing in people with audiological problems
What is it about?
Our findings suggest that there is limited evidence to recommend using third-wave therapies, a form of psychotherapy, to improve psychological wellbeing in people with audiological problems. Certain third-wave therapies may be useful for managing distress related to hearing in people with tinnitus, but only in the short term.
Why is it important?
Third-wave therapies may be useful to those with long-term physical health conditions by developing skills for people to accept and adapt to their new situation in life and their current abilities. These therapies can help people to live their lives in meaningful ways alongside their physical health condition.
