Musical perception assessment of people with hearingimpairment

What is it about?

People with hearing impairment (HI) face numerous challenges that can be minimized with the use of hearing aids (HAs) and cochlear implants (CIs). Despite technological advances in these assistive hearing devices, musical perception remains difficult for these people. Tests and protocols developed to assess the musical perception of this audience were the target of this systematic review, whose objective was to investigate how assessments of musical perception in people with hearing impairment are carried out.

Why is it important?

Music plays an important role in people's lives, and people with HI who use assistive hearing devices do not experience music in a satisfactory manner. This has motivated an increase in the development of tests to assess musical perception in this audience.
