Voice therapy attendance and success in seniors.

What is it about?

Given our rapidly aging population, there is increasing interest in examining voice therapy issues among seniors. This paper examines the voice therapy and success rates for a group of seniors and whether patient-related factors distinguished between those with successful versus unsuccessful outcomes in addition to comparing results for seniors to those for younger patients.

Why is it important?

Our results show that seniors who attended voice therapy had a notably high success rate of 91%. This was significantly higher than the success rates for younger patients. In addition, select variables were significant in distinguishing between patients with successful versus unsuccessful outcomes. Information in this study may assist clinicians in improving attendance and success rates in seniors seen for voice therapy.
