Can a computer intervention help children with speech sound disorders
What is it about?
The aim was to evaluate the effectiveness of computer-assisted intervention for children with speech sound disorders (SSD). The trial involved 123 children who were randomly assigned to an intervention or a control group. Children in the intervention group used the computer-based Phoneme Factory Sound Sorter (Wren & Roulstone, 2013) program for 9 weeks. The control group continued in their typical classroom practices. Computer-assisted input-based intervention administered by educators did not result in greater improvement than typical classroom practices.
